Some weddings remind you why you love what you do. This Mexico City wedding was one of those. It had everything—couture and vintage fashion, a historic venue, gothic design elements, custom build outs, breathtaking scenery, and even a man-made moon.
I’m forever grateful for Ashley and Brian’s trust in my vision—because it allowed me to tell their story through an editorial lens, merging natural moments with artistic intent.
“KT Merry photographed our wedding and it would not have been the same without her. I was originally drawn to KT’s work because she has an editorial style with the ability to very naturally capture moments and tell a story. KT came to Mexico City a few days before the wedding with her team to explore the city, understand the events, see the venue and develop her own strategy and vision for how the day should go. We completely felt at ease trusting her to direct both days.”
This wedding’s fashion was certainly something for the books. For the welcome party, Ashley wore an off-white, tiered, tulle, ruffle ballgown with a train—courtesy of Vera Wang. It was feminine and playful—with just the right amount of drama.
WEDDING CEREMONY LOOK
Ashley found her wedding gown at a trunk show in West Hollywood. The Reem Acra piece featured a classic ballgown silhouette, elaborate lace details, drawstring puff sleeves, and delicate bows adorning the elbows and waistlines. To complete the look, she paired her wedding dress with a vintage crown and diamond raindrop earrings.
AFTERPARTY LOOK
Wanting something a bit more comfortable to dance in, Ashley changed into a custom couture Vivienne Westwood gown for the afterparty’s festivities. She made a special trip to London to get fitted for her Marie Antoinette-esque dress—which showcased a scalloped lace design, a billowing petticoat underskirt, and a corset-like frame featuring detachable tulle panniers.
A Love of Adventure
A deep sense of wanderlust led Ashley and Brian to choose Mexico City as their destination wedding location. They wanted their guests to experience the thrill of exploration, and soak in the city’s unique mixture of electric energy, rich culture, incredible food, historical architecture, and lush flora.
Dreamy Vibes
Ashley and Brian wanted a wedding that radiated timeless elegance—with a touch of gothic drama, a dash of rustic charm, and some baroque design elements thrown in for good measure. House of Kirschner brilliantly incorporated all of this and more—for an incomparably dreamy and immersive multi-day wedding event.
“I definitely wanted it to feel it had a little hint of a Helena Bonham Carter movie.”
Ashley and Brian started off their wedding by welcoming guests at the Santa Mónica Hacienda Museum, a 16th century relic of pre-industrial Mexico City. Stone architecture contrasted against red velvet and gold fixtures, creating an interesting and unforgettable visual experience.
COCKTAIL HOUR
Before the wedding ceremony, Ashley and Brian hosted a cocktail hour I’ll never forget. It was held on the grounds of an ancient and abandoned convent hidden in the forests of Desierto de los Leones, one of Mexico City’s impressive national parks.
CEREMONY
The ceremony—also taking place in the forests of Desierto de los Leones—struck a brilliant balance between nature and architectural grandeur. The whole event was protected from any potential rain by an all-encompassing, transparent, custom tent—built carefully and thoughtfully around the ancient trees so as to not disturb or damage them.
Instead of opting for a traditional chuppah or wedding arch, Ashley and Brian trusted the vision of their wedding planner and went for a custom, Antoni Gaudí-esque, concrete sculpture—which contrasted beautifully against the greenery of the forest and the flowers lining the isle.
RECEPTION
Making for an ethereal aesthetic, the reception area was shrouded in canopies of towering pine, fir, and oak trees—which were encircled by halo-like lights.
Lily of the Valley flowers were shipped from France, pyramids of desserts lined stone slab tables, and custom moss and crystal chandeliers hung from above.
AFTERPARTY
Ashley and Brian’s afterparty took a page from their own book of memories—which featured plenty of late-night conversations under the moonlight. A bespoke, celestial light fixture illuminated the colossal greenhouse space—where guests celebrated under its glow until dawn.

've spent the past decade capturing love and chasing beauty across the globe, and I believe every story like yours is different and special, and deserves to be told exceptionally.
Drawing on years of experience in the fashion and editorial photography industry, my photographs are graceful, honest and boldly natural, while completely intentional. Whether it’s the opportunity to narrate the retelling of once-in-a-lifetime wedding days, or the ability to communicate issues of global importance, or all the stories in between, I look at photography as the method by which I get to leave the world a little better than I found it.
What we’ve spent the last decade learning as we built our business, we share with up-and-coming, soul-driven photographers who want to change the world with their work.
