Sharing a love of adventure and skiing, Vail was an easy choice for Becky and Jason as the backdrop for their engagement session in Colorado. This shoot is, by far, one of the most fun and adventurous outdoor engagement sessions I’ve ever photographed. A winter engagement is ripe with romance, considering all the holiday anticipation, frosty weather and snuggling by the fire that the season encourages. And we certainly captured that wintry romantic feeling in their photos below.
Together we trekked through the snow and the scenic mountains. We laughed our way through a freezing, but remarkably beautiful, afternoon surrounded by the picturesque scenery that abounds in Colorado. It was a memorable day that left us craving a bit more winter than we typically get in Miami.
Becky and Jason’s story is a romantic adventure itself, having met at a weekend conference in Maine, where neither of them lived. After hours of chatting at the final event of the weekend, they decided to meet up again.
Over the next three months, they would meet up for weekend trips together. Living on opposite coasts forced them to compromise on travel destinations, so each of their “weekend dates” took place in Austin, TX; New York City, where Becky relocated; San Francisco, where Jason is based; and finally, in Colorado, where they rang in the 2013 New Year together.
And that—as they say—was that. Becky moved to San Francisco shortly after and the rest is history.
You can see their fun, adventurous relationship just bubbling over in this engagement session in Colorado. It really was the perfect setting to represent their love for one another and the life they’ll share ahead.
Here’s a bit in Becky and Jason’s own words:
“Being able to shoot our engagement photos in the wintry mountains of Colorado was a dream come true. Working with KT and her husband Chad made the entire experience an incredible adventure.
It was certainly a weekend to remember.
Together the four of us scouted sites near Vail on Friday, marveling at the majestic beauty of the Rocky Mountains in winter. On Saturday morning, KT and Chad found a secluded path in the outskirts of East Vail where the snow was white, the trees and mountain provided vibrant colors and texture, and the lighting was perfect. As we dressed for the shoot, we wanted to show both our fancy and our casual sides while being playful.
KT is a master at helping us feel comfortable in front of the camera and really made the whole day a lot of fun.
The day was not just a photo shoot, it was a real Colorado adventure! We snowshoed, hiked, and watched KT sink into a waist-deep snow bank. At the beginning of the weekend, we asked KT and Chad about their most adventurous photo shoot. After the weekend, I think we can safely say this is up there on that list.”
Thank you so much to Style Me Pretty for sharing Becky and Jason’s engagement session. See the story here.
